Tomorrow’s Birthday: The American School Blog

It's July 10, and 9 years ago tomorrow, we posted our first blog entry.  That's a lot of Method Test Prep Mondays, Testimonial Thursdays, Flashback Fridays, and whatever is pertinent enough to post on Tuesdays and Wednesdays!  We do our best to post something every day our office is open, and we try to post a variety of things.  If you're a regular reader, you know that we mix in profiles of students and graduates, announcements about new courses and services, information about historical events that happened on particular dates and much more.  This blog is one way we make information available as quickly as possible, but if you want to send the blog a birthday present, please like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.  Reading this blog regularly and visiting our social media sites will ensure that you'll be among the first to know about our next exciting educational endeavor!

Testimonial Thursday

Today's testimonial comes from Zoe from Illinois, who writes, "Tests were graded and sent back very quickly and efficiently.  When I called to ask about my books and electives, everyone I walked to was friendly and knowledgeable.  I have recommended the American School to many of my friends.  I graduated early because I completed my books quickly.  Thanks!"  We say thanks in return for those kind words.  We do our best to expedite the sending of books, study guides and graded exams for our paper-based courses, and all of our students, whether they take paper-based or online courses, can work entirely at their own pace.  Enroll today and you'll get the same benefits Zoe loved when she was our student.

American School to Attend AFHE Convention in Phoenix

We were in Phoenix a week or so ago for a school counselors convention, but this time we're headed to the Valley of the Sun for a homeschool convention.  We'll be in booth 1112 at the Arizona Families for Home Education Convention from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11.  We've gone to the AFHE event for several years running and always enjoy meeting homeschoolers and their families who visit our booth.  As always, we'll have information about our online and paper-based courses and diploma programs as well as our famous giveaway items.  Beat the heat and come join us inside the South Building of the Phoenix Convention Center!

Today’s Anniversary: Sliced Bread

It's July 7, and on this date in 1928, the Chillicothe Baking Company in Missouri became the first bakery to sell sliced bread.  Today we take sliced bread for granted.  Most loaves of white, wheat, rye or pumpernickel are already sliced when we purchase them, but before 1928, that wasn't the case.  If you wanted sliced bread, you'd have to slice it yourself!  You may be familiar with the expression "greatest thing since sliced bread" and we think you'll be saying that after you become an American School student.  We offer fully accredited high school courses in both online and paper-based formats.  We even offer online exams in most of our paper-based courses.  That way, you can learn in the way that is the most effective for you.  You'll also work at your own pace and have the full support of our staff.  Finally, you and your family won't spend a lot of "bread" because, as a non-profit institution, we keep tuition to an absolute minimum.  Visit our enrollment page to get started.

Today’s Special Occasion: Canada Day

It's July 1, and our neighbors to the north are celebrating Canada Day.  Today is a good occasion to remind you that, even though we have the word American in our name, we welcome students from Canada and more than 70 other countries around the world, making American School internationally relevant.  We even have special enrollment applications for students not living in the United States!  Whether you live in the United States or overseas, we look forward to helping you earn your accredited high school diploma!
