Remembering Pearl Harbor

It’s December 8, and if you picked up a newspaper on this date in 1941, you’d see a headline referring to the attack on Pearl Harbor that occurred the previous day.  December 7, 1941 was a day that will live in infamy, and if you’re ever in Hawaii, we strongly recommend you visiting the USS Arizona Memorial and other sites associated with Pearl Harbor.  An American School employee visited Pearl Harbor many years ago and it was a moving experience that included meeting survivors from the events of December 7, 1941.  It’s been difficult to visit historic sites this year due to the pandemic, but in normal circumstances, we encourage you to visit places like Pearl Harbor.  There are probably even some historical sites close to your hometown!  Doing so is a way to experience some of the material covered in your accredited middle school courses and accredited high school courses firsthand.  In the meantime, we encourage you to click on the links in this blog to learn more about Pearl Harbor and this year’s commemoration.  Thank you for doing so and for making us your distance education middle school or high school!
