Caroline Wozniacki Wins Biggest Title of Career

American School student Caroline Wozniacki captured the biggest title of her career with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Venus Williams in the championship match of the season-ending WTA Finals Singapore.  We are hopeful this win will serve as a springboard for success in 2018 and beyond, and you can count on this blog to keep you updated about Caroline's performance in the coming year.  In the meantime, there are several reasons for you to join Caroline as one of our students.  We offer an online high school diploma, a correspondence high school diploma, an accredited middle school program, and individual courses through independent study programs.  Enroll today!  We'd be happy to serve you!

Kind Words from a Recent Graduate

Recently we received the following email from a student who recently completed our college preparatory program and earned a correspondence high school diploma.  "Hello, I noticed my exams are all graded since yesterday and finally completed AS.  Aside from this probably being the last email I send and just wanted to thank AS school all together, instructors/student dept staff/President office, etc for all those wonderful years and support-and what I learned (which I wouldn't had been able to with the traditional HS). I'm very proud of having AS as the HS I graduated for the rest of my life."  We are very grateful for those words and proud to count this student among our many graduates who chose to earn a high school diploma at home.  The same can happen to you if you choose to enroll today.

Today’s Anniversary: The Battle of Marathon

It's September 12, the traditional date of the Battle of Marathon which occurred all the way back in 490 B.C.  Maybe you feel like getting a high school diploma is like running a marathon.  Perhaps you think it's difficult, it's long and it requires a lot of hard work.  Sometimes it can feel that way, but it doesn't have to be.  We offer an online high school diploma for adults or children and a correspondence high school diploma for adults or children that allows you to work at your own pace, when and where it's convenient for you.  You won't feel like you have to keep up with other students who are ahead of you or slow down because other students are lagging behind.  You set the pace for your studies.  Rest assured that we'll be alongside every step of the way to offer support.  Enroll now.  The sooner you start, the sooner you'll complete your marathon and earn a high school diploma at home.

American School Offers AP Courses

American School is pleased to offer five online Advanced Placement (AP) courses for the 2017-2018 academic year.  To ensure that students have sufficient time to learn material and prepare for their AP exams next spring, enrollment in these online high school courses is only available from September 11-29, with classes scheduled to start the first week of October.  All classes must be completed by April 27.  If you wish to enroll in our AP courses, either as a new student or as a current student who is adding courses to an existing correspondence high school diploma program or online high school diploma program, please read the link above and then send us an email to begin the enrollment process.  We look forward to serving you and think our AP courses are a great addition to our accredited high school program!

American School Staff Receives First Aid Training

Today American School welcomes the American Red Cross to our building.  Several of our employees are receiving training in first aid and CPR so that we can keep fellow employees as safe and healthy as possible in case of any type of emergency.  If you're interested in learning a bit more about first aid and CPR, consider taking one of our health courses.  You can find them among our online high school courses and high school correspondence courses.  They are great additions to your online high school diploma program or correspondence high school diploma program, or you may take them individually for credit recovery or enrichment.

Today’s Anniversary: The Post Office

It's July 26, and on this date in 1775, the United States Post Office Department was established.  Lately there's been a lot of attention paid to our online high school diploma program and online middle school courses, and rightfully so since those programs offer students new ways to learn.  That said, we've offered a correspondence high school diploma program for decades, and we wouldn't be able to do that without the post office.  We mail students study materials, students mail us exams, we return students' graded exams, and ultimately a student completes an accredited high school program to earn a high school diploma at home entirely through the mail.  While online courses increase in popularity, a huge number of people want correspondence courses, and so we have no plans to discontinue sending paper courses through the mail.  In fact, we'll be adding more middle school and high school correspondence courses very soon.  Stay tuned!

New Foods and Nutrition Course Available

American School is pleased to announce the debut of a new Foods and Nutrition course.  This course replaces our Food Study course and has 7 exams.  It may be taken as a full unit or half unit course.  We're pleased to offer Foods and Nutrition among our high school correspondence courses.  Students take these courses en route to a correspondence high school diploma or for credit recovery or enrichment through our independent study high school program.  Keep checking this blog often because we'll be adding more courses later this year.

Caroline Wozniacki Competes at Wimbledon

American School student Caroline Wozniacki reached the fourth round at Wimbledon before falling to Coco Vandeweghe of the United States in the round of 16 in straight sets.  In the first round, Caroline defeated Timea Bobos of Hungary in three sets.  She then went on to defeat Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria in the second round in straight sets and outlasted Anett Kontaveit of Estonia in three sets in the third round.  Her appearance in the fourth round equaled her best performance at Wimbledon, and we look forward to seeing how Caroline does during the upcoming summer hardcourt season in North America.  By the time Caroline begins the U.S. Open in late August, you can have a course or two completed toward your online high school diploma or correspondence high school diploma or be on your way to completing a full year of middle school with online middle school courses if you enroll today.

Today’s Anniversary: The Great Seal of the United States

It's June 20, and on this date in 1782, Congress adopted the Great Seal of the United States.  American School has had several seals of its own during the last 120 years, each of which expresses our commitment to offering quality education which could result in a correspondence high school diploma, online high school diploma, or full years of middle school.  Our current seal below has our name, the date in which we were chartered (or established) in Massachusetts, an eagle, a lamp and an open book which contains a great quote about education.  Your education really is your key to success.  Without it, you won't have the career or lifestyle you've always wanted.  We'll be debuting a new seal soon, so look for it on our web site and other documents like your transcripts and diploma!

Today’s Special Occasion: Flag Day

It's June 14, and we're celebrating Flag Day.  As you might imagine, with the word American in our name, we're proud to fly the flag outside of our distance education high school offices.  We're proud to live in a country that grants its citizens many freedoms, including the choice to attend school wherever they choose.  We offer an online high school diploma program and a correspondence high school diploma program for students in grades 9-12.  We also offer an accredited middle school program for students in grades 6-8.  It is our hope that one day you'll display your American School diploma as proudly as you display the American flag.  Enroll today!
