American School to Attend THSC Convention

We continue our busy convention schedule this week by exhibiting at the THSC Convention in Arlington, Texas.  This is one of the biggest homeschool conventions in the country, and we are happy to be there to promote our accredited high school courses and accredited middle school courses.  Children and parents who are interested having us as their distance education school can visit booth 521 at the Arlington Convention Center on Thursday, May 5, from 5-7 p.m.; Friday, May 6, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Saturday, May 7, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.  As usual, we'll have plenty of information packets, enrollment applications and freebies for anyone who stops by, and we're also participating in the convention's punch card giveaway, so stop by our booth for the chance to win fabulous prizes!  We're right near Globe Life Ballpark, AT&T Stadium and Six Flags Over Texas, so come out to the convention and make a day of it!

Sue Berry Retires

Last Friday Social Studies instructor Sue Berry retired after nearly 17 years of service to American School and its students.  Sue took great pride in helping American School students earn a high school diploma at home and had a big role in making American School the distance education school it is today.  Those of us who worked with Sue will miss her cheerful disposition and can-do attitude along with her extensive knowledge of tennis, fitting for someone who worked at a school where Andre Agassi, Mary Pierce and other tennis champions took high school correspondence courses.  We thank Sue and wish her the best in her retirement.  Look for pictures of Sue's retirement celebration in the May-June All American newsletter.

Today’s Special Occasion: Administrative Professionals’ Day

Today is Administrative Professionals' Day.  We spend a fair amount of time in this blog talking about the instructors who will grade your exams and offer feedback while you earn a high school diploma at home, but our instructors aren't the only employees who help you with your accredited high school program.  Our administrative professionals are the unsung heroes who do a milliion different tasks every day so that your distance education high school or middle school experience can be as good as possible.  Thank you to all of our administrative professionals.  We wouldn't be able to be the distance education school that we are without them!

Testimonial Thursday

It's a Thursday, so let's hear a testimonial from one of our students.  Devin from Washington writes, "The comments I received from my instructors were really encouraging.  Even when I didn’t receive my best grade on an exam, the instructors still helped in motivating me to continue trying my best."  We thank Devin for those words and are happy to offer Devin and the rest of the students in our accredited middle school program and accredited high school program that level of caring student service.  It's something that sets us apart from other distance education schools and is one reason why you should take accredited middle school courses and accredited high school courses with us.  Enroll today and let us educate you in grades 6-8 or help you earn a high school diploma at home!

American School Closed March 25

American School will be closed Friday, March 25.  We look forward to serving you when we reopen with regular business hours on Monday, March 28, but if you want to contact us or enroll over the weekend, you can do that.  We'll reply to your email and process your enrollment application early next week.  Thank you for your interest in our accredited high school courses and accredited middle school courses.  We look forward to being your distance education school!

Today’s Anniversary: Gender Equality in Illinois

It's March 22, and on this date in 1872, our home state of Illinois became the first state to require gender equality in employment.  Today is a good time to remind you that we accept students of all ages, all genders, all ethnic backgrounds and all faiths who want to earn a high school diploma at home or who want to take accredited high school courses for enrichment or credit recovery.  There are no restrictions.  Rather, we are a distance education school for everyone.  We look forward to counting you or a family member or friend among that number.  Enroll today!

Middle School Pilot Program Still Accepting Enrollments

As winter officially becomes spring this weekend, today's blog is a reminder of something that is blooming here at American School.  Our middle school pilot program is still accepting enrollments, and we encourage students in 6th-8th grades to enroll in full-year programs or in individual courses.  All of the work is done online, and as with our accredited high school courses, students work entirely at their own pace.  We think these middle school courses will help us become an even better distance education school, and we invite you to try them out.  Send us an email to request more information or to begin the enrollment process.

American School to Attend Teach Them Diligently Convention in Nashville

American School is on the road this weekend as we head to Nashville for the Teach Them Diligently Convention.  We'll be at the Gaylord Opryland from March 17-19, and as usual we'll have plenty of information about our accredited high school courses which homeschoolers may take as part of an accredited high school program to earn their diplomas or on an individual basis to enrich an existing program.  We'll also bring along some information about our new middle school courses which will make us an even better distance education school.  Come join us!

Testimonial Thursday

We haven't done a Testimonial Thursday blog in awhile, so let's change that today.  Jessica from Illinois writes, "The comments are very encouraging.  I feel like the instructors care and at the same time I don’t feel pressured to learn faster than I’m comfortable.  The entire program is fantastic and the material is stated in a way that can be actually applied to real life."  We thank Jessica for her thoughts.  Our instructors try to make distance learning as personal as possible, which is why they call students by name when they grade exams in accredited high school correspondence courses or accredited online high school courses.  Caring student service is one reason why people make us their distance education school and enroll in our high school diploma program or in individual courses for credit recovery or enrichment.  Enroll today and experience the same benefits as Jessica and all of our students!

Method Test Prep Hosts New SAT Primer

Our periodic Method Test Prep Monday features may have come to an end, but we still discuss the ACT and SAT in this blog from time to time.  Tonight Method Test Prep is hosting a New SAT Primer, which is perfect for students who plan to take the SAT sometime in 2016.  Register for this special event here.  Remember that our school counselor can assist you if you have questions regarding the ACT or SAT.  All of us are grateful that you have chosen us as your distance education school, and we want to help you earn a high school diploma at home!
