Today’s Anniversary: Louisiana

It's April 30, and Louisiana became a state on this day in 1812.  We've visited Louisiana many times for conventions and are happy to serve residents of New Orleans, Baton Rouge and many other parishes in the Pelican State.  Some students take independent study high school classes for credit recovery or enrichment.  Others may take full years of our online high school diploma program or correspondence high school diploma program.  Still others may take full years of our accredited middle school program.  No matter what Louisiana residents need, we have the accredited courses they need at a cost they can afford, and the same goes for you no matter where you live.  Enroll today and you'll have your first course in a matter of days!

Today’s Special Occasion: Administrative Professionals Day

It's April 24, and today is Administrative Professionals Day.  It's an opportunity for us to recognize the many employees who perform clerical tasks in our office.  Our administrative professionals are critical to our entire operation.  They are the ones who write or call students enrolled in our print or online high school diploma program or accredited middle school program.  They are the ones who send more books to students in our middle school and high school correspondence courses.  They are the ones who manage student records and send transcripts to students who earn a high school diploma at home or take individual subjects through our independent study high school program.  We are grateful for all of them and wish them a happy Administrative Professionals Day!

2019 Convention #7: MPE Conference

Kansas City, here we come!  Again this year we're exhibiting at the Midwest Parent Educators Conference at the KCI Expo Center.  We'll be in booth 813 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 5 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 6 with information about our correspondence high school diploma program, online high school diploma program, accredited middle school program, and individual courses available for students in grades 6-12.  The MPE Conference attracts families from Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska, and we enjoy meeting each and every one of them.  Let us give you the Royal treatment in the home city of the 2015 World Series champions.  We look forward to meeting you!

2019 Convention #6: ISCA Rosemont Conference

Just like last week, we're attending two conventions this week.  The first is the Illinois School Counselor Association Conference in Rosemont.  We'll be in booth 40 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center on April 4 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. to visit with counselors from around Chicagoland.  Many schools take advantage of our independent study high school programs which are perfect for credit recovery.  Others might be interested in our print or online high school diploma program which is perfect for the potential dropout.  Either way, we're happy to serve these counselors and their students with our accredited high school courses online or in print.  We always enjoy visiting with counselors who use us, but we particularly enjoy visiting with those counselors whose schools are close by our office.  If you're planning on attending the ISCA Conference in Rosemont, stop by and say hello.  We'd love to renew acquaintances or introduce ourselves to you!

2019 Convention #5: NSBA Conference

Yesterday's blog contained information about the first convention we're attending this week, the Missouri Homeschool Convention in St. Charles.  In this blog we're happy to announce that we're attending the National School Boards Assocation Annual Conference at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia as well.  We'll be in booth 217 on March 30 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on March 31 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.  School board members who visit our booth might be interested in our high school independent study courses which can be used to improve graduation rates in their districts.  We'll also have information about our paper-based high school diploma program and our online high school diploma program, both of which can be helpful to potential dropouts.  As one of the leading distance education high schools and middle schools, we enjoy attending national conferences and meeting people from all corners of the country, but sometimes travel can be tiring.  That's why we're excited about having a presence at a convention that doesn't involve travel.  Check back tomorrow to see what we mean!

Today’s Special Occasion: The First Day of Spring

It's March 20, and today is the first day of spring.  Spring is often associated with new beginnings and new possibilities, so why not try something new and enroll in one of our courses or programs.  American School offers an online high school diploma program, a correspondence high school diploma program, an accredited middle school program, and individual courses for credit recovery or enrichment.  We'll be debuting new courses and programs in late spring or early summer, so keep checking this blog often for the latest news.  In the meantime, let your potential blossom and make the first day of spring one to remember.  Become our student today!

Today’s Anniversary: The United States Census

It's March 1, and on this date in 1790, the first United States Census was authorized.  The United States Census is taken every ten years in years that end in zero, so next year's event once again will count every person living in the United States.  That got us thinking about how we count our students here at the American School.  Every student who enrolls in a middle school or high school correspondence class or in one of our online middle school courses or online high school courses is given a student number in order of his or her enrollment.  Over the years we've educated more than 3 million students in all 50 states and more than 65 countries around the world.  Some students take multiple courses as part of a print or online high school diploma program, while others take just one course as part of an independent study high school program, but every student is more than a number to us.  We offer personalized attention in distance education and would be happy to count you among our students.  You can join us by enrolling today!

2019 Australian Open Recap

52 weeks ago tonight, American School student Caroline Wozniacki won her first Grand Slam title by winning the 2018 Australian Open.  A repeat was not in the cards, however, as she fell to Maria Sharapova in three sets in the third round of the 2019 Australian Open.  Although she came up short this year, we are proud of Caroline's effort and proud to have her as our student.  We'd be happy to have you as our student as well.  If you've been "Down Under" with your education and have fallen behind, we can help you catch up.  You can work at your own pace in our online high school diploma program or correspondence high school diploma program, or you can take individual courses through our independent study high school program to make up credits at a resident school.  Either way we'd be happy to server you.  Enroll today and you should have your first course within a few days!

2018 Convention #23: Indiana ISCA Fall Conference

Today's blog contains information about the final convention we're attending in 2018.  We're staying relatively close to home and attending the Indiana School Counselor Association Fall Conference at the Marriott East in Indianapolis.  Stop by table 57 on November 15 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and November 16 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  We'll have information about our high school independent study program, online high school diploma program and correspondence high school diploma program available for counselors.  This year we've attended 23 conventions across the country and have done our best to meet students, parents and counselors at each one of them.  We've already begun planning our 2019 convention schedule, and we're excited to get back on the road early next year.  Thanks for meeting us this year, and if we missed you, we look forward to meeting you in 2019!
