Testimonial Thursday

Today we have a testimonial from Molly in Oregon.  She writes, "American School is outstanding!  While I was studying high school I was able to work at my own pace and manage my own time so I could have a job and graduate early.  In addition to that, the material is put in a way I could easily understand, and I learned so much more because of that.  I would recommend the American School to anyone interested in preparing themselves for a better future."  We thank Molly for those thoughts.  Many of our students enroll in our print or online high school diploma program and hold full-time or part-time jobs like Molly did.  We offer students the flexibility to work in a high school correspondence class or in online high school courses whenever it's convenient for them.  Our accredited middle school program offers similar flexibility.  To experience the same benefits Molly did, we invite you to enroll today!

Today’s Anniversary: Baltimore

It's July 30, and the city of Baltimore was founded on this date in 1729.  If you're a regular reader of this blog, you know that we highlight the conventions and cities we visit throughout the year.  In fact, the Southeast Homeschool Expo in Atlanta that we attended last weekend was our 20th convention of 2019.  The month of August is convention-free for us, but we are already planning our 2020 convention schedule, and one of the cities we'll be visiting is Baltimore.  Some conventions are geared for homeschoolers and those who want to earn a high school diploma at home, and we promote our print or online high school diploma program at those events.  Other conventions are geared for counselors or teachers, and usually we promote our independent study high school programs at those conventions.  We look forward to visiting Baltimore and hopefully a city near you in 2020, but we have a few more shows to attend in 2019, starting in September.  Stay tuned to learn where we are headed next, and check back Thursday for our latest blog entry.

2019 Convention #18: ASCA Annual Conference

This weekend we're heading to Boston, where the American School was founded in 1897, to attend the American School Counselor Association Annual Conference.  Counselors are invited to visit us in booth 1011 at the Hynes Convention Center on June 29 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.; June 30 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and July 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  We'll have information about our independent study high school program which students and schools may use for credit recovery purposes as well as our print and online high school diploma program, which may be useful for the potential dropout.  We'll also have details about our accredited middle school program for counselors who work with students in grades 6-8.  If all that sounds good to you, we have something else that you may like just as much.  We're participating in a scavenger hunt, and everyone who stops by our booth and has his or her card stamped will be in the running for a free $100 Target gift card.  The ASCA Annual Conference is a can't-miss convention for us, and we want our booth to be can't-miss for you as well.  Come visit us in Boston this weekend!

Today’s Special Occasion: Flag Day

It's June 14, and today we're celebrating Flag Day.  As you might imagine, with the word American in our name, we're proud to fly the flag outside of our distance education high school offices.  We're proud to live in a country that grants its citizens many freedoms, including the choice to attend school wherever they choose, and we're proud to serve students in more than 65 countries around the world.  We offer an online high school diploma program and a correspondence high school diploma program for students in grades 9-12.  We also offer an accredited middle school program for students in grades 6-8.  It is our hope that one day you'll display your American School diploma as proudly as you display the American flag.  Enroll today!

New Duplicate Diploma Request Form Available

If you have completed our print or online high school diploma program and earned a print or online high school diploma with us but no longer have a copy of your diploma, you can request a duplicate using this duplicate diploma request form.  Each duplicate diploma costs $25 and does not include a case or tassel.  The request form and payment must be received before we send your duplicate diploma to you.  Thank you for your cooperation and for making us your distance education high school!

Today’s Anniversary: Louisiana

It's April 30, and Louisiana became a state on this day in 1812.  We've visited Louisiana many times for conventions and are happy to serve residents of New Orleans, Baton Rouge and many other parishes in the Pelican State.  Some students take independent study high school classes for credit recovery or enrichment.  Others may take full years of our online high school diploma program or correspondence high school diploma program.  Still others may take full years of our accredited middle school program.  No matter what Louisiana residents need, we have the accredited courses they need at a cost they can afford, and the same goes for you no matter where you live.  Enroll today and you'll have your first course in a matter of days!

Today’s Special Occasion: Administrative Professionals Day

It's April 24, and today is Administrative Professionals Day.  It's an opportunity for us to recognize the many employees who perform clerical tasks in our office.  Our administrative professionals are critical to our entire operation.  They are the ones who write or call students enrolled in our print or online high school diploma program or accredited middle school program.  They are the ones who send more books to students in our middle school and high school correspondence courses.  They are the ones who manage student records and send transcripts to students who earn a high school diploma at home or take individual subjects through our independent study high school program.  We are grateful for all of them and wish them a happy Administrative Professionals Day!

2019 Convention #7: MPE Conference

Kansas City, here we come!  Again this year we're exhibiting at the Midwest Parent Educators Conference at the KCI Expo Center.  We'll be in booth 813 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 5 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 6 with information about our correspondence high school diploma program, online high school diploma program, accredited middle school program, and individual courses available for students in grades 6-12.  The MPE Conference attracts families from Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska, and we enjoy meeting each and every one of them.  Let us give you the Royal treatment in the home city of the 2015 World Series champions.  We look forward to meeting you!

2019 Convention #6: ISCA Rosemont Conference

Just like last week, we're attending two conventions this week.  The first is the Illinois School Counselor Association Conference in Rosemont.  We'll be in booth 40 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center on April 4 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. to visit with counselors from around Chicagoland.  Many schools take advantage of our independent study high school programs which are perfect for credit recovery.  Others might be interested in our print or online high school diploma program which is perfect for the potential dropout.  Either way, we're happy to serve these counselors and their students with our accredited high school courses online or in print.  We always enjoy visiting with counselors who use us, but we particularly enjoy visiting with those counselors whose schools are close by our office.  If you're planning on attending the ISCA Conference in Rosemont, stop by and say hello.  We'd love to renew acquaintances or introduce ourselves to you!

2019 Convention #5: NSBA Conference

Yesterday's blog contained information about the first convention we're attending this week, the Missouri Homeschool Convention in St. Charles.  In this blog we're happy to announce that we're attending the National School Boards Assocation Annual Conference at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia as well.  We'll be in booth 217 on March 30 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on March 31 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.  School board members who visit our booth might be interested in our high school independent study courses which can be used to improve graduation rates in their districts.  We'll also have information about our paper-based high school diploma program and our online high school diploma program, both of which can be helpful to potential dropouts.  As one of the leading distance education high schools and middle schools, we enjoy attending national conferences and meeting people from all corners of the country, but sometimes travel can be tiring.  That's why we're excited about having a presence at a convention that doesn't involve travel.  Check back tomorrow to see what we mean!
