Today’s Anniversary: Alabama

It’s December 14, and Alabama became a state on this date in 1819.  More than a century later, Rosa Parks made one of the most significant stands in American history when she refused to give up her seat on a city bus in Montgomery, Alabama.  This display of strength led to her being called the first lady of civil rights, but as 2020 has shown us, the fight for equality is far from over.  American School is proud to offer African American Studies among its online high school courses.  We encourage students in our accredited high school program or independent study high school program to consider adding it to their curriculum.  African American Studies is one of hundreds of courses we have to offer, and we are happy to offer all of our courses to residents of Alabama, 49 other states and more than 65 countries around the world.  Enroll now!
