It’s November 21, and North Carolina became a state on this date in 1789. North Carolina is the home of two great college basketball programs—Duke and North Carolina—who have combined for 11 national championships and numerous Final Four appearances, so today’s blog is going to focus on American School’s relationship with the NCAA and college sports. At this time American School’s accredited middle school courses and accredited high school courses are not approved by the NCAA. That means that you should not take American School courses if you plan to play college sports. The NCAA strongly prefers students take teacher-led courses which is in direct conflict with our belief that students should be able to work at their own pace. Should either of our positions change, we will make an announcement in this blog and on our web site. Thank you for understanding and for making us your distance education middle school or distance education high school if you live in North Carolina or any of the other 49 states.
