It’s January 21, and Karl Wallenda was born on this date in 1905. He was the patriarch of the Wallenda family and founded The Flying Wallendas, which consisted of members of his family performing high-wire acts and other daring feats in front of large crowds. Sometimes their feats were performed as part of a traveling circus, but in more recent years the feats of Wallenda family members have involved natural landscapes, including walking across Niagara Falls or the Grand Canyon. Over the years we’ve been happy to have many members of the Wallenda family as our students, and today’s blog is here to assure you that taking American School courses is much less frightening than walking across Niagara Falls or the Grand Canyon on a tightrope. We allow students to work at their own pace in their middle school courses or high school courses. Allowing students to work at their own pace gives students the time they need to feel comfortable with a subject and master it, and so we are proud to have this policy in our educational structure. Along the way students have the support of our entire staff, particularly our instructors, so even though they work in a classroom of one, they are never alone. We invite you to take the leap by enrolling and making us your distance education middle school or distance education high school. You’ll be joining the Wallendas and more than three million other students who have made American School their school of choice, and all of us would be happy to serve you.
