The French Open tennis tournament is underway at Roland Garros in Paris, and so today is a good opportunity for us to look back at some of the tournament’s most memorable moments involving American School graduates. Andre Agassi was runner-up in 1990 and 1991 but broke through and won the title in 1999, rallying to defeat Andrei Medvedev after losing the first two sets. The win gave Andre the career Grand Slam, a feat accomplished by only a select few tennis champions. A year later Mary Pierce defeated Conchita Martinez to win the women’s title. Like Andre, she has two runner-up finishes to her credit, those coming in 1994 and 2005. Andre, Mary and many other tennis players chose American School because we offered them the ability to work at their own pace while traveling the world. When they were our students we only offered high school correspondence courses, but now we have online high school courses and even an accredited middle school program for those tennis prodigies who are not yet ready for an accredited high school program. We welcome students who have many different talents, not just those who are good at tennis, and we would be happy to count you among the three million students we have served over the years. The ball is in your court. Enroll today!
