Recently we've heard from students and parents who regularly receive grade notification emails and other important emails from us, but when they go to the online student center to retrieve a lost password and enter the same email address at which they receive those important emails, they get a message that says our system does not recognize their email address. Even before they get to that step, they may see a notice on the first page of the online student center stating that we don't have an email address on file for them when, in fact, we do. Here is an explanation.
Usually at the time of enrollment in one of our diploma programs, students and guarantors provide us with email addresses. The student's email address goes into the student email field of our internal record system, and the guarantor's email address goes into the guarantor email field. Independent study students can only give us their email address for the student email field. When you have an exam graded and recorded, our internal system saves the grade, posts the grade to the online student center and automatically sends a grade notification email to the student email address. One thing our internal system does not do at the present time is upload your email addresses to the online student center. That's why, even though we may have your email on file and you might be receiving communicatons from us, the online student center says we don't have an email address for you. In reality, we do, but the online student center does not. Here is a solution.
The next time you log into the online student center as a student or guarantor, please check to see that you have the correct email address on file with the online student center. There's a link that allows you to change your email address and/or password. You don't have to do anything with the password boxes, but double-check and make sure your email address is correct. The online student center can talk to our internal system, so any changes you make to your email address in the online student center will also be made to the email address we have on file for you in our internal system. When you have email address on file with the online student center, you will be able to retrieve your lost password directly from the online student center. If you do not have your password and therefore cannot log into the online student center to make the changes described in this paragraph, please follow the normal procedures for getting a password sent to you, which are described here.
