Preferred Browsers

GradPoint Courses: The preferred browsers to use when taking GradPoint courses are Firefox 3 or higher and Internet Explorer® 8.0 or higher.

Online Exams for Paper-Based Courses: The preferred browsers to use for online exams are Google Chrome 4 or higher or Firefox 3 or higher.

Mobile Devices

Mobile devices can be used to view the courses or the online exams; however, some functions may not work as well on mobile devices, like uploading documents or taking exams where written answers are required. It is recommended that you use your desktop or laptop to take exams and submit written assignments.

The Puffin Academy app which is required in order for GradPoint to operate properly on an iPad has apparently been suspended from Apple’s App Store as of June 6, 2017.  At this time, we suggest using a computer rather than an iPad to work on GradPoint courses.

Pop-Up Blockers

For the American School® Online Moodle Site, you will need to disable the Pop-Up Blocker option.  The following links below will provide instructions on how to disable the Pop-Up Blocker for different Web browsers:

  1. Internet Explorer

    • On the right hand side of the page, you will see Internet Explorer 11 listed. If your browser is not Internet Explorer 11, then click on the drop-down arrow that is just to the right of Internet Explorer 11 to select your browser version. Then, follow the instructions provided on disabling the pop-up blocker for the American School® Online Moodle Site.
  2. Firefox
  3. Google Chrome
  4. Opera

    • Look under the first choice in the options section under Controlling Content.
  5.  Safari:

    •  Click on the word Safari in the Safari browser window:

      1. Choose Preferences, the select the Security tab and uncheck the Block Pop-Up Windows option.
    • For older versions of Safari, click on Safari in the Safari browser window and choose “Block Pop-Up Windows”.

Additional Browser Information

Some users may encounter a Secure Connection Failed error when using Firefox to access GradPoint. If this happens, we recommend that you use Google Chrome instead.  If you use Internet Explorer, you must turn on the Compatibility View browser setting when you access GradPoint. Otherwise, discussion threads will not load properly, and other parts of the site may not work as intended. To add GradPoint to the list of sites that should always use Compatibility View, go to the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, select ‘Compatibility View settings’ and add gradpoint.com to the list. Refresh the page and verify that there is now a checkmark by ‘Compatibility View’ in the Tools menu.
