Today’s Special Occasion: World Teachers’ Day

October 5 is World Teachers' Day, and there's no better occasion to thank them and to tell you a little bit about the instructors who grade our students' exams.  All of them have at least 24 hours of college credit in the subjects they grade.  Many of them have advanced degrees, and many have years of hands-on experience in the subjects they grade.  We ask that our instructors make distance education as personal as possible.  That means they call students by name and write detailed comments on every exam they grade, whether it's a traditional paper exam, an online exam in one of our paper-based courses, or an exam in one of our online courses.  They are also available to assist via phone, email or letter whenever our students need assistance.  Enroll today and experience the benefit of our outstanding instructors as you work toward your accredited high school diploma!

Today’s Special Occasion: MLB All-Star Game

If you read last Friday's blog entry, you know that the American School Blog celebrated its 9th birthday just four days ago.  The subject of our very first blog entry on July 11, 2006, was the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, which was being played that night in Pittsburgh.  Tonight's game is in Cincinnati, and even back when we attended a convention there in April, the Queen City was already abuzz with excitement.  Although we've added many online courses and launched online diploma programs and made other positive changes since our first blog was published, some of the other themes of our first blog entry remain the same.  You can still become an academic all-star after you enroll with us.  That's because we allow students to work entirely at their own pace and provide students with detailed feedback from our qualified instructors.  We can't guarantee that you'll hit it out of the park on every test, but we can guarantee that through hard work and perseverance, one day you will cross home plate with your accredited high school diploma.

Testimonial Thursday

It's Thursday, so let's hear a testimonial from one of our students.  Normally we'd identify the student by first name and hometown, but we're keeping this one anonymous other than to tell you that she is in her 30s, owns her own business and was commenting on her instructor's feedback on a recent exam in our online  Life Management Skills course..  She writes, "Thank you for believing in me.  Your response made a difference to me.  It gave me encouragement that I can do it as long as I try.  And I wanted to see that if I didn't rush could I do it better.  And I saw that.  It's just owning a business and schooling was hard, but I may have figured something out like I did last night.  Thanks again."  We're thankful for those thoughts.  They verify that our instructors write detailed personalized comments on every exam they grade, and they also serve as a reminder that anyone can enroll with us.  We are grateful to have students of all ages, of all backgrounds and from all 50 states who are taking individual courses for enrichment or credit recovery or who are working toward their accredited high school diplomas.

Today’s Special Occasion: Teacher Appreciation Week

It's May 4, the first day of Teacher Appreciation Week.  Our students are taught by qualified instructors who genuinely care about their students.  Each of them has at least 24 hours of college credit in the subjects they grade, while many hold advanced degrees.  They all write detailed, personalized comments on every exam they grade, calling students by name and leaving constructive feedback so that students can learn from their mistakes and do better on future exams.  If you are ready to receive the same kind of help as you work toward your accredited high school diploma, enroll today!

Today’s Birthday: Jessica Alba

It's April 28, and former American School student Jessica Alba turns 34 years old today.  Since taking courses with us, Jessica has become one of the most recognizable actresses in the world and is among our most famous students, but all of our students get the red carpet treatment after they enroll.  Our instructors write detailed feedback on students' exams and make concerted efforts to call students by name whenever they correspond with them.  Our online and paper-based courses allow students to learn in a way that is comfortable to them.  Finally, we are a non-profit institution, so cost is kept to an absolute minimum.  Visit our enrollment page to learn how you can follow in Jessica's footsteps as an American School student!
