Today’s Anniversary: Louisiana

It's April 30, and Louisiana became a state on this date in 1812.  We've attended many conventions in Louisiana over the years, most of which have been for principals, counselors and other school officials.  When we attend those types of conventions, we feature our independent study high school programs and to a lesser extent our print and online high school diploma program.  Many school officials look for a place like American School which offers accredited courses at an affordable cost.  Their students might need only a course or two to graduate on time, but others might need to earn a high school diploma at home for a variety of reasons.  That's where our diploma programs come into play.  We are happy to serve residents of the Pelican State, and we'd be happy to serve you wherever you live as well.  Enroll today!

2020 Convention #8: Midwest Homeschool Convention (Cancelled)

Our second convention of the week should have been the Midwest Homeschool Convention in Cincinnati, but the event was cancelled.   We would have been there with information about our print or online high school diploma program, accredited middle school program and individual subjects for enrichment as well as some of our promotional items.  We always enjoy attending this event, but now we look forward to visiting the Queen City in 2021 and meeting people from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and even West Virginia and Tennessee while we are there.  No matter where you live, we'd love to see you next year in Cincinnati or at another convention.  In the meantime, please consider making us your distance education middle school and distance education high school.  We'd be happy to serve you!

2020 Convention #5: NSBA Conference (Cancelled)

This weekend we were scheduled to attend a convention close to home, but the National School Boards Association Conference at McCormick Place in Chicago was cancelled.   Normally we attend this convention to introduce ourselves to school board members from across the country.  Many of them might be interested in learning how our independent study high school program and help reduce their district's dropout rate.  Our print or online high school diploma program with print or online high school courses can help reduce dropout rates too.  While we are disappointed that the 2020 NSBA Conference was cancelled, we understand and support the convention organizers' decision.  We hope to return to the NSBA Conference in the future if our schedule allows.

2020 Convention #3: Missouri Homeschool Convention (Cancelled)

It's March 26, and today we were supposed to head to the Gateway to the West to exhibit at the Missouri Homeschool Convention near St. Louis.  Unfortunately but understandably this convention has been cancelled, and we look forward to returning to this convention in 2021.  Had we attended this year, we would've had information about our print or online high school diploma program, accredited middle school program and individual subjects for enrichment on hand and brought along our famous promotional items, including a brand new one for 2020.  We do our best to attend shows in all parts of the country when we can, and yet we also like attending shows relatively close to our home when we are able.  Just like the famous arch serves as a gateway to the west, we can serve as a gateway to the career and life you always wanted.  Please consider making us your distance education middle school and distance education high school.  We'd be happy to serve you!

2019 Convention #23: MSCA Fall Conference

American School is excited to exhibit at the Missouri School Counselor Association Fall Conference next week in Osage Beach.  Counselors are invited to visit us at the Margarita Lake Resort (formerly Tan-Tar-A Resort) on November 3 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on November 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  We will have information about our independent study high school program in which students can take online high school courses or high school correspondence courses to recover credit.  We will also have information about our print or online high school diploma program for the potential dropout and also have details about our accredited middle school program for students in grades 6-8.  Come join us in the Show Me State!  We look forward to seeing you there.

One Week Left to Enroll in AP Courses

Today's blog is a reminder that there is one week left to enroll in AP courses for the 2019-2020 academic year.  These online high school courses can be a nice addition to your accredited high school program or online high school diploma program if you are a senior or qualified junior.  They also may be taken as part of online independent study programs if you are not planning to earn a high school diploma at home from American School.  All the information you need is in the link included in today's blog.  We look forward to you enrolling in AP courses with us!

Testimonial Thursday

Today we have a testimonial from Molly in Oregon.  She writes, "American School is outstanding!  While I was studying high school I was able to work at my own pace and manage my own time so I could have a job and graduate early.  In addition to that, the material is put in a way I could easily understand, and I learned so much more because of that.  I would recommend the American School to anyone interested in preparing themselves for a better future."  We thank Molly for those thoughts.  Many of our students enroll in our print or online high school diploma program and hold full-time or part-time jobs like Molly did.  We offer students the flexibility to work in a high school correspondence class or in online high school courses whenever it's convenient for them.  Our accredited middle school program offers similar flexibility.  To experience the same benefits Molly did, we invite you to enroll today!

Today’s Anniversary: Baltimore

It's July 30, and the city of Baltimore was founded on this date in 1729.  If you're a regular reader of this blog, you know that we highlight the conventions and cities we visit throughout the year.  In fact, the Southeast Homeschool Expo in Atlanta that we attended last weekend was our 20th convention of 2019.  The month of August is convention-free for us, but we are already planning our 2020 convention schedule, and one of the cities we'll be visiting is Baltimore.  Some conventions are geared for homeschoolers and those who want to earn a high school diploma at home, and we promote our print or online high school diploma program at those events.  Other conventions are geared for counselors or teachers, and usually we promote our independent study high school programs at those conventions.  We look forward to visiting Baltimore and hopefully a city near you in 2020, but we have a few more shows to attend in 2019, starting in September.  Stay tuned to learn where we are headed next, and check back Thursday for our latest blog entry.

2019 Convention #18: ASCA Annual Conference

This weekend we're heading to Boston, where the American School was founded in 1897, to attend the American School Counselor Association Annual Conference.  Counselors are invited to visit us in booth 1011 at the Hynes Convention Center on June 29 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.; June 30 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and July 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  We'll have information about our independent study high school program which students and schools may use for credit recovery purposes as well as our print and online high school diploma program, which may be useful for the potential dropout.  We'll also have details about our accredited middle school program for counselors who work with students in grades 6-8.  If all that sounds good to you, we have something else that you may like just as much.  We're participating in a scavenger hunt, and everyone who stops by our booth and has his or her card stamped will be in the running for a free $100 Target gift card.  The ASCA Annual Conference is a can't-miss convention for us, and we want our booth to be can't-miss for you as well.  Come visit us in Boston this weekend!

Today’s Special Occasion: Flag Day

It's June 14, and today we're celebrating Flag Day.  As you might imagine, with the word American in our name, we're proud to fly the flag outside of our distance education high school offices.  We're proud to live in a country that grants its citizens many freedoms, including the choice to attend school wherever they choose, and we're proud to serve students in more than 65 countries around the world.  We offer an online high school diploma program and a correspondence high school diploma program for students in grades 9-12.  We also offer an accredited middle school program for students in grades 6-8.  It is our hope that one day you'll display your American School diploma as proudly as you display the American flag.  Enroll today!
