It's June 2, and on this date in 1835, P.T. Barnum's circus began its first tour of the United States. Here we are 179 years later and Barnum's original circus has morphed into the Ringling Bros. Circus, which has three units–blue, red and gold–and stops at virtually every major city to entertain young and old alike. Circus perfomers and their families travel from city to city by train, which makes traditional educational nearly impossible. Instead, many circus performers over the years have used the American School to educate themselves or their children. To this day we are happy to have circus performers or children of circus performers as our students. They know that wherever their travels take them, they can work on their paper-based or online courses and one day earn the American School's accredited high school diploma.
