It's April 19, and on this date in 1775, the Revolutionary War began with the battles of Lexington and Concord in Massachusetts. Each year these opening battles of the American Revolution are commemorated on Patriots' Day, which is the third Monday in April. This year, as we all know, the day turned tragic. The events in Boston have been on our minds all this week, especially since Boston is our original hometown. In fact, the American School was founded in Boston in 1897, the same year the Boston Marathon was run for the very first time. We offer our condolences to the families of the victims, our best wishes for a full recovery for those who were injured, and our hope for a return to normalcy and a peaceful future for Boston and its surrounding areas.
