It's August 24, and 100 years ago today, Alaska became an organized territory of the United States. It would stay that way until January 3, 1959, when it became the 49th state. Since becoming a state, and especially in more recent years, the American School has had a long relationship with Alaska and its students, particularly those that live in very remote areas. Our distance-learning courses are perfect for them since traveling to a brick-and-mortar school is very difficult. Once again this year, we will be attending an education convention in Alaska, and we've got trips to several other state and national conventions planned for the fall. Keep checking this blog to find out where we're headed next!
