It’s March 8, and today is International Women’s Day. It’s a wonderful day to pay tribute to the many women who have served American School over the years, but we wouldn’t have enough room in this blog to recognize them individually. Instead we will highlight three. One is Mary McKeown, who served American School in various roles, including educational director and trustee, for 75 years. Another is Roberta Allen, who served as executive vice-president and curriculum director and wrote our popular Planning Your Career course. The third is Valerie Riley, who in 2017 became the first woman to become American School President. These women and many others in the last 126 years have served homeschool and independent study students who have taken our accredited middle school courses or accredited high school courses. We wouldn’t be where we are today without them, and so we celebrate all of the women who’ve served American School and its students on this International Women’s Day.
