Today’s Anniversary: Helena, Montana

It's October 30, and the city of Helena, Montana was founded on this date in 1864.  That year was part of the Montana Gold Rush, and a group of settlers came across an area called Last Chance Gulch which later became Helena.  Montana is home to author Christopher Paolini, who took our high school correspondence courses while writing his Eragon series.  American School was not a last chance for Christopher, but we've been used as a last chance by others who failed to earn a high school diploma elsewhere.  Our accredited high school program offers a correspondence high school diploma program and an online high school diploma program, and we give credit for courses completed at other accredited schools.  Whether you live in a place once called Last Chance Gulch or in 49 other states or more than 65 countries around the world, don't give up on your dream of becoming a high school graduate.  Enroll with American School today!

Reminder About Our FAQ Page

Today's blog contains a reminder about our FAQ page.  We've put frequently asked questions (and their answers) on that page for your convenience.  Please check our FAQ page first before contacting us.  We are happy to reply to every email we receive within one business day and assist you on the phone, but checking the FAQ page before contacting us allows us to provide even better service to you and the thousands of other students who are in our online high school diploma program, correspondence high school diploma program, high school independent study program or accredited middle school program.  Thank you for your cooperation and for allowing us to serve you.

American School Closed December 25

American School will be closed Monday, December 25, and reopen with normal business hours on Tuesday, December 26.  We know that many students in our correspondence high school diploma program, online high school diploma program and online middle school program have set goals for themselves to complete work by the end of the calendar year, and we will do our best to ensure they meet their goals.  One way we will do that is by being open between Christmas and New Year's.  We look forward to serving you when we return to work on Tuesday.

American School Closing at Noon December 19

American School will close at 12 noon on Tuesday, December 19, for a special event.  We will reopen with our normal hours on Wednesday, December 20.  Although we will have different hours than normal, students can always email us for assistance, and we will reply to those emails as quickly as possible.  We're pleased that so many students are taking high school independent study courses or online middle school courses with us while others are in our online high school diploma program or correspondence high school diploma program.  No matter your program, we're happy to serve you!

Today’s Anniversary: The Assembly Line

It's December 1, and on this date in 1913, the Ford Motor Company introduced the first moving assembly line.  We thought this anniversary might be a good occasion to tell you how your exams move throughout our building after you submit them as part of your correspondence high school diploma program or independent study high school program.  When they arrive, exams are sent to our mail table, where they are opened and sorted by subject.  Then they move to the exam distribution office which further separates and organizes them.  After that, they're given to our instructors, who are trained to call students by name and write constructive feedback on every exam they grade.  After exams are graded in the order in which they are received, they return to the exam distribution office and later recorded in our grading system.  Shortly after they are recorded, grades appear in the online student center.  Finally, graded exams are placed in envelopes and mailed back to our students.  The whole process is like an assembly line, and we are grateful to have so many exams from students who are working to earn a high school diploma at home with American School!

Today’s Anniversary: San Jose

It's November 29, and city of San Jose was founded on this date in 1777.  We're excited to announce that we'll be visiting the San Jose area in 2018 to exhibit at a homeschool convention.  It'll be our first trip to that region, and we're looking forward to promoting our online high school diploma program, correspondence high school diploma program and accredited middle school program in northern California.  We're in the process of finalizing the rest of our 2018 convention schedule, and as usual we'll be promoting each of our appearances in this blog and on our Facebook and Twitter pages.  We look forward to visiting a city near you in 2018!

Today’s Birthday: Wayne Osmond

It's August 28, and entertainer Wayne Osmond turns 66 years old today.  American School is proud to be the school of choice for many members of the Osmond family, including Wayne and his siblings Donny and Marie.  When the Osmonds were our students, just had a correspondence high school diploma program.  We didn't have an online high school diploma program or online middle school courses, but now we do.  It's just one example of how American School has adapted with the changing times to meet the needs of all of our students.  Soon we'll be introducing even more new courses.  Keep checking this blog often for updates!

Today’s Special Occasion: Opening Day

It's April 3, and today is Opening Day for most Major League Baseball teams.  There is something about Opening Day that brings optimism to all 30 teams and their fans, but maybe you haven't felt optimistic about your educational plans for a long time.  Don't worry.  Let today be your personal Opening Day with American School by becoming our student.  In addition to individual subjects for credit recovery or enrichment, we offer an online high school diploma program, a correspondence high school diploma program and an accredited middle school program consisting of online middle school courses.  Right off the bat you'll get one or two courses with others to follow, and our instructors and support staff will do whatever they can to ensure you knock it out of the park as you work toward reaching your educational goals.  Make today an Opening Day to remember and enroll with us!

American School FAFSA Code Information

If you're an American School student or graduate filling out a FAFSA form, you may be asked for our high school code.  That code is 07016272Y010000.  We know that's long and not particularly easy to remember, which is why we've added that information to our FAQ page.  That page contains answers to frequently asked questions from people who are interested in our online high school diploma program, correspondence high school diploma program and accredited middle school program which currently consists of online middle school courses.  We are grateful to all of our students and graduates and hope you will check our FAQ page if you have a question.
