Today’s Anniversary: The Post Office

It's July 26, and on this date in 1775, the United States Post Office Department was established.  Lately there's been a lot of attention paid to our online high school diploma program and online middle school courses, and rightfully so since those programs offer students new ways to learn.  That said, we've offered a correspondence high school diploma program for decades, and we wouldn't be able to do that without the post office.  We mail students study materials, students mail us exams, we return students' graded exams, and ultimately a student completes an accredited high school program to earn a high school diploma at home entirely through the mail.  While online courses increase in popularity, a huge number of people want correspondence courses, and so we have no plans to discontinue sending paper courses through the mail.  In fact, we'll be adding more middle school and high school correspondence courses very soon.  Stay tuned!

Caroline Wozniacki Competes at Wimbledon

American School student Caroline Wozniacki reached the fourth round at Wimbledon before falling to Coco Vandeweghe of the United States in the round of 16 in straight sets.  In the first round, Caroline defeated Timea Bobos of Hungary in three sets.  She then went on to defeat Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria in the second round in straight sets and outlasted Anett Kontaveit of Estonia in three sets in the third round.  Her appearance in the fourth round equaled her best performance at Wimbledon, and we look forward to seeing how Caroline does during the upcoming summer hardcourt season in North America.  By the time Caroline begins the U.S. Open in late August, you can have a course or two completed toward your online high school diploma or correspondence high school diploma or be on your way to completing a full year of middle school with online middle school courses if you enroll today.

Today’s Anniversary: The Great Seal of the United States

It's June 20, and on this date in 1782, Congress adopted the Great Seal of the United States.  American School has had several seals of its own during the last 120 years, each of which expresses our commitment to offering quality education which could result in a correspondence high school diploma, online high school diploma, or full years of middle school.  Our current seal below has our name, the date in which we were chartered (or established) in Massachusetts, an eagle, a lamp and an open book which contains a great quote about education.  Your education really is your key to success.  Without it, you won't have the career or lifestyle you've always wanted.  We'll be debuting a new seal soon, so look for it on our web site and other documents like your transcripts and diploma!

Caroline Wozniacki Falls in French Open Quarterfinals

American School student Caroline Wozniacki saw her French Open run end in the quarterfinals with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 loss to Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia.  Caroline's appearance in the final eight matched her best showing in Paris and first appearance in the quarterfinals there since 2010.  The tennis season now shifts from the clay courts of Paris to the grass courts that will lead us to Wimbledon in July.  We will keep you posted on Caroline's progress in the season's third major, but by the time that tournament begins you can already be well on your way to a correspondence or online high school diploma.  Students can enroll anytime with us and begin taking online high school courses or high school correspondence courses.  Same goes for students wishing to take online middle school courses as part of our accredited middle school program.  No matter your situation, we look forward to serving you!

2017 National Geographic Bee

The 2017 National Geographic Bee was held earlier this month and is now airing on PBS stations across the country.  If you watch the show, you'll be amazed at what these teenagers know, and you can try to match them by taking one of our geography courses.  We offer a paper-based World Geography course and an online Geography course.  You may take them to help get a correspondence high school diploma or online high school diploma.  You can also take them as part of an independent study high school program to recover credit at a public or private school you attend.  Both geography courses will help you find your way around the world and also bring you one step closer to your high school diploma.  Enroll today!

Today we want to give you an update on making payments on our web site.  We are currently in the process of making further upgrades to our payment system, and we appreciate your patience during this process.  Perhaps you have had difficulty making a payment when you tried to enroll in our accredited middle school program or accredited high school program or experienced similar frustration as a current student making a monthly payment toward your online high school diploma or correspondence high school diploma.  We apologize for any difficulty you had and hope to have upgrades to our payment system complete by this summer, if not sooner.  If you have trouble, you can always call or email us to make payments that way.  We appreciate having you as our student!

Today’s Special Occasion: Arbor Day

It's April 28, and today is Arbor Day.  Arbor Day's focus is on trees, and trees are a major part of the environment.  You can learn more about the environment by taking our paper-based Environmental Science course or our online Environmental Science course.  They are two of our many online high school courses and high school correspondence courses that students may take as part of an accredited high school program.  Some take our courses for credit recovery purposes and will earn their diplomas from a local public or private high school.  Others take our courses in the hope of earning an online high school diploma or correspondence high school dipoma from American School.  Either way, we're happy to serve our students!

Reminder About Restarting With American School

Today's blog focuses on restarting your accredited online high school diploma program or accredited high school program with high school correspondence courses with American School.  We know that most people complete high school in four years or less, but we also know that sometimes life gets in the way and you can't complete yoru full general high school program or college preparatory program in that time.  Whether you've been gone a short time or even years, you can restart right where you left off and still earn your online high school diploma or correspondence high school diploma.  Just call us or send us an email or letter and explain your situation.  Be sure to have your name at the time you were enrolled, your address and phone number and your American School student number ready and we'll be happy to help you get started again.  We look forward to helping you earn your American School diploma no matter how old you might be or how many years have passed by since you took the first step and enrolled with us.
