It’s October 5, and the Public Broadcasting Service, more commonly known as PBS, was launched on this date in 1970. PBS airs a variety of programs, including shows relating to current events, science and history, but a good portion of its programming focuses on educating children. Many of us at American School recall watching Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and Sesame Street when we were children and we still remember the lessons we learned from watching those shows. In today’s era of thousands of channels over the air, on cable television and on streaming services, we encourage you to watch something educational from time to time. It doesn’t necessarily have to be on PBS, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be a children’s show, but watch something to enrich your accredited middle school program or accredited high school program. Over time, we bet you will be excited to learn new things that will be beneficial to you as you continue with your middle school courses or high school courses!
