American School Welcomes Board of Trustees

Today American School welcomes its Board of Trustees for their quarterly visit.  We always enjoy seeing our trustees because they have a deep love of American School and bring with them decades of knowledge and experience.  In total, our trustees have more than a century of experience serving American School, and over the years they've seen us go from offering only high school correspondence courses to a school that also offers an online high school diploma for adults or children and three years' worth of correspondence or online middle school courses for students in grades 6-8.  Much of what is discussed today and tomorrow will help shape American School's future, and we're excited to share our future plans with you as soon as they become official.  In the meantime, you can make our trustees–and all of our employees–happy by enrolling with us today!

Today’s Anniversary: Sally Ride

It's June 18, and on this date in 1983, Sally Ride became the first American woman in space.  At one time, the idea of a female astronaut would have seemed far-fetched, but Sally Ride proved otherwise.  Now it's not uncommon to see females as astronauts, scientists or any number of professions.  Those of us at the American School encourage our students to follow their dreams whatever those dreams might be.  We offer a wide variety of accredited high school courses in a number of different subject areas.  In particular, we offer electives in business, career and technical education, fine arts and world languages to complement core subject areas such as English, math, science and social studies.  Take them toward an online high school diploma for adults or children, a correspondence high school diploma for adults or children, or simply for enrichment.  Students in grades 6-8 can do similar things after they enroll in our accredited middle school program.  Blast off toward the education and career of your dreams by enrolling with us today!

Caroline Wozniacki to Defend Australian Open Title

American School student Caroline Wozniacki won her first Grand Slam title at the 2018 Australian Open, and next week she begins defense of that title.  American School students and graduates have had great success Down Under.  Andre Agassi won the men's singles title four times, and Mary Pierce won the women's singles title one time.  One reason so many tennis players have chosen us as their distance education high school is that they can work on our courses all over the world.  They either work toward a correspondence high school diploma by carrying course materials with them or work toward an online high school diploma for adults simply by logging into a computer or mobile device.  We wish Caroline good luck in this year's Australian Open and would be happy to serve you as well.  Enroll today!

About Class Rings and Other American School Merchandise

Today's blog is about American School merchandise.  Every so often we hear from someone who has earned a correspondence high school diploma or an online high school diploma for adults or children and wants to purchase a class ring.  We no longer offer class rings, but that doesn't mean you cannot get a class ring.  Many local jewelers or big box stores have plenty of possiblities for you to create a nice class ring for yourself.  Also, there is no official American School apparel or other merchandise available for purchase at this time.  It's something we're investigating because we want our students and alumni to have pride in their school and be able to purchase items with our name on them, but we have not made any decisions at this time.  If you have ideas for us, we'd love to hear from you, and we appreciate your support as we remain among the best distance education high schools and middle schools anywhere in the world.

Today’s Anniversary: The Moon Landing

It's July 20, and man landed on the moon on this date in 1969.  If you want to go to new heights and to places you've only imagined for yourself, consider earning a correspondence high school diploma or online high school diploma for adults or children with us.  We can't promise you'll wind up on the moon, but we hope you'll be over the moon working at your own pace and with the friendly support of our entire staff.  Monthly payment plans are available for students in our full-year programs, and tuition always includes all study materials, grading and access to the online student center.  Have lift-off on your academic career by choosing us as your distance education high school and middle school!

American School’s Australian Open Championship Tradition

We've been following Caroline Wozniacki's run to the Australian Open final for the better part of two weeks, but if she wins the championship tomorrow, she won't be the first American School student to overcome all foes and win a Grand Slam event Down Under.  Andre Agassi won the men's singles event in 1995, 2000, 2001 and 2003, and Mary Pierce won the women's singles event in 1995 before adding a runner-up finish in 1997.  We're proud of Caroline, Andre and Mary, but we're proud of all of our students.  They're all part of a special kind of championship tradition that stems from our 121 years as a leading distance education high school.  When we started, no one could've imagined that we'd offer an online high school diploma for adults or children, and yet many people have earned our online high school diploma since we started offering that program a few years ago.  Of course, we're proud to offer a correspondence high school diploma program too, and later this year our accredited middle school program will consist of online and paper-based courses.  We'd be honored to include you join our tradition of excellence, and you can get started by enrolling today!

Today’s Anniversary: The Golden Gate Bridge

It's January 5, and construction on the Golden Gate Bridge began on this date in 1933.  You may think of the American School as a bridge from your current life to the life you've always wanted.  Studies have shown that high school graduates are more successful than those who never graduated from high school.  We offer an online high school diploma for adults or children in addition to a correspondence high school diploma.  Both consist of 18 units of credit, and monthly payment plans are available to make an already cost-effective tuition even more affordable.  Over the years we've helped more than 3 million people earn a high school diploma at home, and we want to include you in that number.  Enroll today and take the first step across the bridge to your bright future.

American School Closed November 10

American School is closed Friday, November 10, in advance of Veterans Day.  We owe our veterans a debt of gratitude for their service to our country and our ideals.  Because of them, we are proud to include the word "American" in our name.  We offer an online high school diploma for adults or children, a correspondence high school diploma program and an accredited middle school program for those students who need those types of programs.  We also offer independent study high school and middle school courses for those students who need credit recovery or have scheduling conflicts in a traditional school.  Check out the rest of our web site to enroll today.  We'll process your application when we return to the office on Monday, November 13.

Today’s Anniversary: The Battle of Marathon

It's September 12, the traditional date of the Battle of Marathon which occurred all the way back in 490 B.C.  Maybe you feel like getting a high school diploma is like running a marathon.  Perhaps you think it's difficult, it's long and it requires a lot of hard work.  Sometimes it can feel that way, but it doesn't have to be.  We offer an online high school diploma for adults or children and a correspondence high school diploma for adults or children that allows you to work at your own pace, when and where it's convenient for you.  You won't feel like you have to keep up with other students who are ahead of you or slow down because other students are lagging behind.  You set the pace for your studies.  Rest assured that we'll be alongside every step of the way to offer support.  Enroll now.  The sooner you start, the sooner you'll complete your marathon and earn a high school diploma at home.
