It’s December 15, and American School is celebrating its 126th anniversary this coming Sunday. We were founded in Boston on December 17, 1897 by R.T. Miller and his friends and spent the first few years of our existence there before moving to Chicago in 1902. We’ve been based in the Chicago area ever since, but our reach extends far beyond our current city, state or country. Since our founding we’ve been honored to serve students in all 50 states and more than 65 countries around the world. Most of them took high school correspondence courses while trying to earn a high school diploma at home, but in more recent years we’ve offered an online high school diploma for adults or teens and introduced a middle school program for younger students. We do our best to meet students where they are and to offer a wide variety of middle school courses and high school courses which appeal to students of all abilities and backgrounds. As we look forward to our anniversary on Sunday, we thank our students and staff for what they’ve done to make us the distance learning middle school and distance education high school we are today. We look forward to serving students around the world for the next 126 years!
