It’s October 21, and Alfred Nobel was born on this date in 1833. He is best known for the prizes which bear his name, but he was also a scientist and is credited with inventing dynamite. It’s ironic that the name of someone who invented dynamite would be on the Nobel Peace Prize, but other Nobel Prizes are awarded in chemistry, physics, medicine, literature and economics. If those general subject areas sound familiar to you, it might be because many of them are required subjects for students in our college preparatory program. Students in our general high school diploma program may be required to take fewer of those subjects but may add them as electives if they so choose. We like giving students as much flexibility as possible as they work toward an online high school diploma or correspondence high school diploma, and offering hundreds of subjects in print and online formats is one way we do that. Enroll today! We believe you’ll have a dynamite time as an American School student!
