Today’s blog outlines several changes in enrollment requirements that will go into effect Monday, July 12. The biggest change is that all students who live in Illinois and plan to enroll in a year or more of our accredited middle school program or accredited high school program will be required to submit a birth certificate in order to enroll. This is in accordance with Illinois state law and guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education. Second, students will not be required to complete the Public Law 195 Exam covering the United States and Illinois Constitutions plus flag etiquette. Because the exam is required by public schools in Illinois and is an entrance requirement for many Illinois-based community colleges, however, students residing in Illinois will be encouraged to take the exam, though it will not be required. Third, all students who plan to earn a high school diploma at home with us will be required to complete Consumer Economics, Economics or Personal Finance, again in accordance with guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education. We appreciate you making us your distance education middle school or distance education high school and look forward to giving you an outstanding educational experience.
