It’s December 17, and on this date in 1897, American School received its charter from the state of Massachusetts. Because of that, we consider today to be our anniversary, and it’s been our pleasure serving more than three million students in the last 124 years. When R.T. Miller and his colleagues founded American School, he probably had no idea that he and the School would move to Chicago just a few years later, and in the years that have followed, Chicagoland has become our home. R.T. Miller also probably had no idea that brick and mortar schools would wish to partner with us to offer independent study courses on an individual basis for credit recovery or enrichment, but that happened in the 1920s and 1930s and has been a staple of our business ever since. Finally, R.T. Miller probably would find it hard to believe that one day we would offer middle school correspondence courses, online middle school courses and online high school courses since American School only offered high school correspondence courses from its earliest days up until the early 2000s, but now we are proud to offer two distinct course delivery methods for students in grades 6-12. Those are just some of the examples of how American School has evolved over the years, but our main focus has always been our students and their needs, and that will never change. Help us celebrate our anniversary by enrolling today. We would be happy to serve you!
