American School received its charter on December 17, 1897, and our 125th anniversary is the perfect opportunity to thank everyone who has been a part of the American School story for the last 125 years. Certainly the list begins with R.T. Miller, who founded American School in Boston and served as president until 1945. Seven others have served as president, and countless others have served as officers, instructors, accountants, customer service representatives, shipping clerks and more. We’re grateful to school officials who have used our independent study program for credit recovery or enrichment, and we’re thankful to homeschool parents and other family members who have made us their children’s distance education middle school or distance education high school. The biggest thank you of all, however, goes to our students. They come from all backgrounds, all ages, all parts of the country and all over the world, but they share the same goal: to further their educations by taking our accredited middle school courses or accredited high school courses. We’ve served more than 3 million students since our founding in 1897, and we’re grateful for each and every one of them. Thank you for reading this blog and sharing in our special day. We’re looking forward to the next 125 years and we hope you are as well.
