It’s October 27, and yesterday American School’s Board of Trustees held their fall meeting. American School has a unique governance structure consisting of a Board of Trustees and a Corporation. The Board of Trustees consists of past and present American School employees plus at least one outside consultant, while the Corporation consists of the Board of Trustees plus other present-day American School employees. Yesterday’s Board of Trustees meeting was a chance for trustees to take a deeper dive into topics discussed at the previous day’s Annual Meeting and to do more in-depth planning for the coming year. Over the years, American School’s Board of Trustees has provided valuable guidance to those who lead the School on a day-to-day basis. The Board of Trustees shares the belief that the student always comes first and that American School should offer accredited middle school courses and accredited high school courses at an affordable cost. Those of us who work at American School on a daily basis are grateful for the support and leadership offered by the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees has been instrumental in making American School a leading distance education middle school and distance education high school for more than a century, and with the leadership of the Board of Trustees and Corporation and the participation of our students, American School is sure to hold those distinctions for many years to come.
