Advanced Placement Courses

For the 2021-2022 academic year, American School is pleased to offer the following online Advanced Placement (AP) courses:

  • AP Biology
  • AP Calculus AB
  • AP English Literature and Composition
  • AP United States History

Enrollment in AP courses for the 2021-22 academic year is open from July 6 to September 3, 2021.  Please check back in July 2022 for information about enrolling in AP courses for the 2022-23 academic year.

Since it can take up to three business days for students to have access to all online study materials, we recommend enrolling by August 20 if you wish to begin your course on September 1, but all students who enroll can expect to have access to all online study materials no later than September 10.

All courses must be completed by April 29, 2022.

AP courses cost $200 per course for students already in an American School high school diploma program and $400 per course for all other students.  Tuition must be paid in full at the time of enrollment.  Please note that additional AP exam fees apply.  In addition, students who take the Biology and/or English Literature and Composition will need to purchase additional study materials.

About the AP Program

The AP program is designed to give students the experience of the rigors of college-level studies while still having the support of a high school environment.  Students participating in AP have the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school which may help in the college admission process.

Homeschooled students must make arrangements to test at a participating school or authorized test center.  We recommend that students contact AP services before enrolling to get the names and telephone numbers of local participating AP coordinators who are willing to test outside students.  It is each student’s own responsibility to make such arrangements.  Students must contact AP coordinators no later than March 15, 2022 to arrange testing.

There is an additional fee per AP test, separate from the cost of the course, that is paid to the AP coordinator.   For more information, please visit https://apcentral.collegeboard.org.

International students (those registering for AP exams outside the United States) should visit http://international.collegeboard.org for additional information.

Thank you for your interest in American School’s AP courses!

Homeschooling has taught me a lot of new things.  It has taught me self-discipline and made me take my studies more seriously than before.  I have learned to study properly.  The books and materials were very helpful.  It is a fun experience to do homeschooling.  Many people are amazed to know that I did homeschooling.  This has opened and changed a lot of people’s minds.

– Jekah from United Arab Emirates

American School has more to offer than any public school.  Two of my children, two of my grandchildren, and one niece completed their high school education with American School, and my sister and I are enrolled at the present time.

– Marilyn from Missouri

I learned a lot, and the skills are helping me in my college classes.

The most important thing I learned was how to schedule my time and organize my work.  The study guides helped to show me how much work to do at one time.  I’m glad to be part of American School.

– Peter from Illinois

I have found the methods, instruction, textbooks, study guides and service satisfactory because they are all up-to-date and made ready for me to learn.  I am greatly thankful for this service because now I can graduate early with all my credits in.  Thank you very much, American School!

– Ada from Michigan

American School was an easy yet efficient way to earn the extra credit I needed to graduate.

– Elizabeth from Illinois

I greatly enjoyed American School.  The instructors’ comments were very helpful.  I enjoyed this method of learning.  I feel I have learned a lot more than I did in public school.  I was able to keep up with school through all the moves I made without going through the hassle of switching school systems.  I enjoyed the honesty of the

instructors and the overall program.   I will recommend American School to anyone interested.
