It’s October 28, and today a legendary American School employee is retiring after 36 1/2 years of service to American School and its students. Those years of service were spent primarily grading many English high school correspondence courses, and when some of us sat down and tried to calculate just how many exams the retiring employee has graded since starting with American School in 1986, we came up with somewhere around 250,000 exams in paper-based high school courses, which could be an all-time record. We mention this employee today because this employee is one of many American School employees who have devoted much of their professional careers to helping students earn a high school diploma at home. Whether our employees have been here 36 1/2 years or longer or are just starting with us, all of us are committed to offering our students the best education and service we possibly can. We wish our retiring employee all the best in the future, and those of us who remain in the office will continue to provide the kind of service that has been one of our hallmarks since our founding 125 years ago.
