Our Middle School English Courses introduce students to excellent writing. Each year is formatted to help students become familiar with reading a variety of pieces from a variety of authors. Students will read poems, short stories, novel excerpts, and non-fiction prose. They will learn basic literary analytical skills. They will be able to identify and literary elements and express their own ideas in writing. Each course includes an Extended Writing Project where students will learn components to different types of essays. English 6 also includes an Extended Reading Project of a full-length novel. The student is required to obtain novel separately.
