This course addresses various health topics such as nutrition, physical fitness, substance use and abuse (tobacco, alcohol, and drugs), stress management, disease prevention, and healthy relationships. The course also provides middle school students practical tips and skills for making healthy choices and establishing healthy habits that be used throughout their lives. Because different health-related topics are discussed throughout the course, it is recommended that middle school students talk with their parents, guardians, or other trusted adults about the topics in this course to make sure students understand that having a healthy lifestyle includes physical, social, mental and emotional development from infancy through adulthood.
