Description
This half–unit course provides printreading experience in residential and light commercial construction. The text/workbook is designed to reinforce concepts regarding elements commonly found on prints. The course provides a detailed description of various construction materials and explores the typical use of working drawings and written specifications by building trades for various types of construction. Real world building plans for a brick veneer residence, condominium, commercial building, bank, and restaurant are examined in detail. Written specifications for both the brick veneer residence and restaurant are studied, as are building codes. Five sets of plans are included with the course, many of which are also on the accompanying CD-ROM, which includes supplemental reference material. In completing this subject students take competency exams included as part of the textbook materials.
