It’s January 15, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on this date in 1929. He was assassinated in 1968 but left behind a legacy of civil rights that continues today. A visit to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Park and Preservation District’s web site would be one appropriate way to honor Dr. King today and bring social studies material in your online middle school courses, paper-based middle school courses, online high school courses and paper-based high school courses to life. Another way is to visit the King Center’s web site to see what special events it has planned for Dr. King’s birthday. A third way is to participate in the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service this coming Monday, when his birthday will be observed. We hope the links in this blog will be useful to you as you learn more about Dr. King and work to honor his legacy as best you can.
