Today the American School Blog pauses from its usual posts in remembrance of the events of September 11, 2001. We encourage you to visit the web sites of the National September 11th Memorial and Museum, the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial, and the Flight 93 National Memorial to learn more about the events of that fateful day 23 years ago. Although the tragedies occurred in New York, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania, many local communities have their own 9/11 memorials, perhaps with a piece of steel from the World Trade Centers and words from survivors or victims’ families. Visiting one of those memorials in person might be an appropriate way of commemorating this anniversary too. No matter what you do, we invite you to take time today to learn about the events of September 11, 2001 and to remember the lives lost that day and the loved ones they left behind.
