It’s August 11, and the first prisoners arrived at the Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary on this date in 1934. The prison would close in 1963 but remains one of the world’s most famous jails to this day. We write this blog not to celebrate Alcatraz or any other prison but to remind you that it is possible for prisoners to take American School courses. Most prisoners must take high school correspondence courses because prisons have restrictions on internet access which preclude prisoners from taking online high school courses. Moreover, prison officials decide if prisoners can have access to hardcover study materials in paper-based high school courses, and if they do not, then it is possible for prisoners to read our study materials with the covers removed. If you have additional questions about the types of services we can offer prisoners, please contact us. We will reply within one business day. Thank you.
