It’s August 1, and Colorado became a state on this date in 1876. Because Colorado became a state 100 years after the United States became a nation, it is sometimes referred to as the Centennial State. American School knows something about centennials too because we celebrated ours in 1997. We were founded in Boston in 1897 and have been a leader in homeschool courses ever since. Back then we served children and adults who could not attend a traditional school due to illness, work or other responsibilities, and we are proud to serve those types of students and many others today. More than a century after our founding, many students enroll in full-year homeschool programs with us in an effort to earn a high school diploma at home.
