It’s April 8, and on this date in 1974, Hank Aaron hit his 715th career home run, breaking Babe Ruth’s longtime record of 714 home runs in an entire career. Although Hank Aaron no longer holds the career home run record, his home run on this date 51 years ago is still one of the most famous in Major League Baseball history, and monuments to him and his home run still stand at various stadiums in Atlanta. We want all of our students to knock one out of the park on every exam they take in our middle school courses and high school courses, but we know that doesn’t always happen.
