It’s October 14, and on this day in 1968 Jim Hines became the first man to run the 100-meter dash in less than 10 seconds. This anniversary got us thinking about how quickly our students work in their accredited middle school courses or accredited high school courses. While it is true that we allow students to work at their own pace, please keep in mind that our courses are designed to be completed over many months. For example, semester courses should be completed in 3-5 months, while full-year courses are designed to be completed in 6-9 months. The time spans mirror those of a traditional school, and because we give students 6 months to complete semester courses and 12 months to complete full-year courses there is no need to rush. If you feel like working quickly, you may do so, but please remember there is no prize for being the fastest person to finish. There is a prize, however, when you complete your courses and one day earn an accredited high school diploma. Let us help you stay on the right track when you become an American School student.
