It’s May 21, and Clara Barton established the American Red Cross on this date in 1881. The American Red Cross has helped millions of people in various ways since its founding 140 years ago, and American School employees are included in that number. Every two years we welcome an American Red Cross representative to our building to provide first aid training to a select group of employees. After that first aid training is complete, that group of employees is prepared to assist coworkers in case of an emergency. We are grateful to the American Red Cross for their services which help keep our entire staff safe and healthy. A safe and healthy staff allows us to properly serve students in our accredited middle school program, accredited high school program and independent study high school program, and serving students has been our top priority since our founding in 1897, just 16 years after the American Red Cross was founded.
