Today American School remembers the loss of the space shuttle Columbia and its seven crew members who perished on this date in 2003. Rick Husband, William C. McCool, Michael P. Anderson, Kalpana Chawla, David M. Brown, Laurel Clark and Ilan Ramon lost their lives when the space shuttle disintegrated upon reentry. During their 16-day mission, they conducted many experiments in space using many of the same methods used by our students who take biology or chemistry lab courses as part of our general high school or college preparatory program. We remember Columbia’s astronauts today and encourage you to click the link above to learn more about the Columbia’s final mission. It would be an appropriate way for you to enhance your accredited middle school program or accredited high school program as we recall the events of 18 years ago today.
