It’s October 20, and the Sydney Opera House opened on this date in 1973. The Australian building is one of the most recognizable structures in the world, and today’s anniversary got us thinking about the two buildings American School has called home for most of our 124-year existence. Our building near the University of Chicago was a four-story red brick building, and while we were headquartered there, millions of students took our paper-based high school courses for students in grades 9-12. When we moved to Lansing and into our current two-story brown brick building, times had changed, and so we added online high school courses to our curriculum first and then added a fully accredited middle school program to serve students in grades 6-8. Both buildings have served us well over the years and have provided our staff with the proper facilities to serve students across the country. Though tours of our current building are limited at this time, we invite you to check our blog to see when tours might become available. We would be happy to welcome you to our building just as we are happy to serve you on a daily basis.
