It’s July 28, and author Beatrix Potter was born on this date in 1866. Her most famous book was her first one, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, which has sold more than 45 million copies in 36 different languages since its publication in 1901. Beatrix Potter wrote books for young children, so today’s blog is going to be about reading for fun at an early age. We know many of you are in our accredited middle school program or accredited high school program, but you may have siblings in preschool or elementary school. It is best for children to start reading for fun at a young age and continue that practice as they get older, but it’s never too late to begin reading for fun. There are many different genres of literature out there, and reading for fun doesn’t have to mean reading a book. It can mean reading a newspaper, magazine or articles online or on an e-reader. No matter your favorite thing to read or how you read it, reading is important. Students who make American School their distance education middle school or distance education high school read many interesting things along the way, but one of the first things they read as an American School student is their enrollment application. If you haven’t enrolled yet, hop to it and start today. You’ll be glad you did!
