It’s September 10, and Isaac Funk was born on this date in 1839.  He was one of the founders of the Funk and Wagnalls encyclopedia company, and so today’s blog is going to focus on reliable sources.  Many years ago, encyclopedias such as Funk and Wagnalls were very reliable reference materials in printed form.  Today much of the accurate information that would’ve been found in encyclopedias is available online, and so printed encyclopedias are now virtually obsolete.  Unfortunately, finding accurate information online can be a challenge.  When doing online research in your online high school courses or high school correspondence courses, please be sure to visit credible web sites.  If you find a piece of valuable information on one site, it is a good idea to visit another site to verify that information.  In addition, students should always cite their sources using the appropriate citation methods mentioned in their courses.  We want you to have a safe experience doing research and discover valuable information in the process.  Thank you for making us your distance education high school!
