It’s April 23, and James Buchanan was born on this date in 1791. He was the 15th President of the United States and is unique among presidents because he never married. If you’re a longtime reader of this blog, you know that we sometimes mention presidential homes and presidential libraries and encourage you to visit them if you have the chance. Several American School employees have visited these libraries and museums, but until we did research for today’s blog, we didn’t know that James Buchanan’s home at Wheatland in Lancaster, Pennsylvania is open to visitors. A visit would be a great way for you to learn more about one of the lesser-known presidents, but our homeschool students can learn more about American history by taking one of our three United States History courses. We offer one for students who are completing middle school at home and two for students who are completing high school at home. Choose the one that is best for you and enroll today. We would be happy to have you as our student!
