It’s January 14, and ancient Roman statesman Mark Antony was born on this date in 83 B.C.  In William Shakespeare’s play Julius Caesar, Mark Antony utters the famous line, “Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears,” and so today’s blog is going to talk about American School, ancient Rome and Shakespeare.  Several years ago American School created a Latin 1 course to add to its high school correspondence courses.  The course gave students the chance to learn a new language and to learn about a new culture and people like Mark Antony who lived during the time of Latin’s greatest popularity.  Unfortunately we do not offer Latin 1 anymore, but the fact that it was not offered, then offered and then again not offered sheds some light on how our curriculum adapts to fits the needs of our students.  Today our students can read one of William Shakespeare’s plays in our Literature 4: Selected English Classics course.  It’s a popular option among our paper-based high school courses and contains outstanding works of literature such as Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.  We are always doing our best to update our courses and to make them as educational and informative as possible.  Join us by enrolling and making us your distance education high school.  We look forward to serving you!
