It’s February 23, and American School founder R.T. Miller was born on this date in 1867. American School was founded in 1897, so by age 30, R.T. Miller had founded what would become one of the largest and longest-serving distance learning schools in the world. Over the years, the school that R.T. Miller founded has adapted to the changing times to better serve students in all 50 states and more than 65 countries around the world in a variety of ways. For decades we only offered high school correspondence courses, and while millions of students benefitted from those paper-based high school courses, we knew that even more would benefit from an accredited middle school program, and so we began offering accredited middle school courses. We also knew that technology had changed a great deal and so we began offering online high school courses and online middle school courses. We’d like to think that R.T. Miller would be proud of how the school he founded has evolved over the years, and we’d like to add you to our legacy.
