Today’s blog is going to discuss what does and doesn’t happen after students enroll in our accredited middle school program, accredited high school program or independent study program.  As soon as we receive an application, we begin processing it.  If the student is new to American School, we set up a page for the student in our internal record system.  We add the class or classes for which the student enrolled.  We set up a payment history for the student that begins with a down payment for a full-year program or the entire payment for individual subjects.  In some cases we reach out to a student’s previous school to request a transcript.  We always call and/or email newly-enrolled students to welcome them to American School and to answer any questions they might have.  If a student is adding more subjects, we begin the process of adding those subjects to the student’s record.  We didn’t even mention sending printed study materials or placing students in sections of online courses.  The entire enrollment process can take a few days.  Because the process takes a few days, students do not receive instant access to their courses.  This is a commonly asked question and so we are answering it here as well as making the answer available on every enrollment application.  Please know that our staff processes every enrollment application as quickly as possible and we are all grateful that you made us your distance education middle school or distance education high school.
